About

Hello! I am Florence Onyike, a Ph.D. student at the Department of Geosciences at Virginia Tech, specializing in Geosciences. My primary research focuses on managed aquifer recharge and environmental justice in the climate change era.
My academic journey revolves around investigating the impact of successful implementation of managed aquifer recharge as a mitigation strategy for addressing groundwater-induced land subsidence and hydrological hazards. I am particularly interested in assessing the effectiveness of managed aquifer recharge (MAR) and evaluating optimal approaches for integrating MAR with existing water management practices to enhance the resilience and flexibility of water supply systems.
I am passionate about utilizing data analytics and data science methodologies to address pressing environmental challenges, and I continuously strive to integrate sustainability practices into my academic pursuits.
Through my work, I aim to contribute to our understanding of climate change impacts and empower communities and decision-makers with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate environmental challenges effectively.
